Pets' Days 2008 - Patron Saint St. Anthony the Abbot
The earth is full of God's beautiful creatures!
At St.Joan Antide School, we were very proud to host some of these creatures on
the 17th and on St.Anthony the Abbot's Day i.e. 18th of January. These two
days will mark our school's calendar since children were encouraged to bring
their pets with them! Year 4-6 children's Pets' Day was held on the 17th of
January, whilst the younger girls from Years 1-3 brought their animal friends
on the following day!
All kinds of animals were the main protagonists of this memorable two-day event!
Among the assorted list of compagnions that the girls brought with them to
school there were; playful dogs, fluffy cats, rabbits, hamsters, tiny mice,
colourful birds, fish, cute turtles, various reptiles… and last but not least
a pony!!! Parents were invited to accopany their children with the pets and
everyone took a seat in the assembly hall where holy mass was celebrated by
Fr.Joe. Everyone was very delighted and enjoyed this unique event! Even
children who do not have pets at home, were encouraged to show their
admiration and love for all of God's creatures.
Pets' Days in our school are intended to provide our girls with a pleasant and
more stimulating school environment, and also to promote the participation in
environmental protection initiatives from an early age. The whole two-day event
was surely a very positive experience where the community assembled together,
had fun and surely learned a lot about the care and respect for all living
things!
